Notes Comments and
Suggestions

Everyone who works on the Impromanga can post comments and suggestions on plot, characters, drawing, time use, etc. These are here to help, and to keep the creative juices flowing ^_^ Good Luck!

  • Decide the drawing style right at the beginning! Otherwise you'll end up with the same result as I did...
  • Give at least 4 days time to think about the plot. But remember to keep your expectations small. Let's try to keep the plot go smoothly. If you have some great ideas, but no time to accomplish it, post them here.
  • If you have any major plans (tests etc.) on your turn, pass it to another!
  • You are in no way forced to imitate my drawing style!
  • On the last two screens, I didn't mean that the bartender knows about his immortality. Just a weird coincidence.
  • Korrin doesn't have to wear those clothes. I just had to get him to fit to the atmosphere.
  • Keep your expectations small. Ten pages are a lot! Of course it depends...

About the plot... I'm pretty sure that anyone, who has thought about these characters, have come to the same conclusion. Well, this first one is about Korrin and Sephora. Now let's see... Sephora is a really old and powerful sorceress whose fantasy includes the world domination. She has only one weakness, shes not immortal (the smartest ones of you can already see where I'm heading). Hmm, she could easily absorb it from someone, but darn, where oh where could she find an immortal man... This makes a delightful dilemma for Korrin. To wander the earth for eternity or doom our children to fear for generations to come. Maybe they've had some earlier conflicts? Korrin has been running for over 4 000 years! That might be a bit - stressing... Maybe Korrin is thinking about giving up? This was the main reason why I made him an alcoholic. To forget.

My original plan on my part was to give Korrin a - vision of Sephoras second coming. I had the idea, that Korrin had killed him once somewhere in the past. And the shock of her being alive and after him once again... That eats a man... I didn't do this, because the story would have lost its balance.

Well, that's all. Good luck! Remember to have fun!

I was surfing the web for information about dragons and this is what I found. I was wondering if you want to post it on the impro page when you have the time, because I think this is a really interesting piece of text involving Kivrin. Some parts are really interesting when compared to Kivrin! Like the myth of chinese people to be the descendants of the dragon, they can shapeshift (bit like Kivrin), they are from 5 000 years from the past just like Sephora! Could Kivrins ancestors have something to do with Sephora OR the oddbird? The plot thickens! Just don't post anythin over this line. Am I taking this impro too seriously? I mean my parts just over.

----------

This was a piece of text I found about dragons over the net. Involving Kivrin...

The dragon symbolizes the chinese people and the people from chinese origin considered themselves, with a certain amount of pride, 'descendants from the dragon'. The question what this dragon really is and where it comes from has puzzled whole generations of scientists and researchers.

According to ancient texts the dragon was a creature 'with a pair of antlers like the one of a deer, a camel head, the eyes of a hare, and the neck of a serpent. Its belly looks like the one of a shen (a mythical water dragon that resembles a crocodile). Its claws look like the ones of an eagle, its paws like the ones of a tiger and its ears like the ones of a buffalo. The dragon was able to morph from one form into another within a few instances, from fat to thin and from tall to short. It could also rise to heaven and descend to the depths of the sea. It seems to be that the dragon is a supernatural creature that can accept any type of form. The chinese sign for the dragon appears during the Yin and Shang dynasties (from the 16th to the 11th century B.C., the period of the earliest chinese hieroglyphs), between inscriptions on bones and turtle shields. These inscriptions depicted a horned reptile, teeth, scales and sometimes paws as well. Above the sign there's often a symbo! l that seems to indicate that the dragon is considered to be a violent, evil, unfortune bringing creature. Based on this symbol chinese scientists concluded that the 'dragon' was in fact an alligator. Throughout the centuries scientist came up with many explanations and theories about the dragon. It's beyond any doubt that it must have been, in its earliest appearances, a reptile; a snake, alligator, or lizard. Reliquees and archeological sites dating from 5,000 to 6,000 years from now have shown that lizards, alligators and dragons were adapted in totemestic messes of honor and rituals. By researching the icons on these findings we can trace down the earliest description, evolution and the final appearance of the dragon. Though the first dragons had one single form of appearance, the different peoples from ancient China, that got into contact with eachother more and more often, started to image their totems with more fantasy. After a long time one picture evolved of which its properties mixed with the ones of different dragons or totems. Therefore the dragon is a product of imagination; a mystical creature that has been worshipped by the Chinese for centuries. Also in modern chinese art the dragon is depicted in many appearances. Etnical and cultural minorities depicted it in many forms, from a fish to an alligator or human.

According to legend the Dragon had nine sons, and each had a strong personality. There is no general agreement as to what the Dragon's sons are called. However, to most people, they are:
Haoxian
A reckless and adventuous dragon whose image can be found decorating the eaves of palaces.
Yazi
Valiant and bellicose; his image is seen on sword-hilts and knife hilts.
Chiwen
Chiwen likes to gaze into the distance and his appearance is often carved on pinnacles.
Baxia
Baxia is a good swimmer and his image decorates many bridge piers and archways.
Pulao
Pulao is fond of roaring and his figure is carved on bells.
Bixi
Bixi is an excellent pack-animal whose image appears on panniers.
Qiuniu
Qiuniu loves music and his figure is a common decoration on the bridge of stringed musical instruments.
Suanmi
Suanmi is fond of smoke and fire; his likeness can be seen on the legs of incense-burners.
Jiaotu
Jiaotu is as tight-lipped as a mussel or a snail. His image is carved on doors.

The plot thickens! The descendants of the dragon, shapeshifting (except Kivrin's soul travels to another body). And that the earliest signs of dragons were 5 000-6 000 years ago! Could Kivrin's ancestors have something to do with Sephora or the oddbird? Did the oddbird destroy Sephora once with the help of the dragons? Was Sephora the reason for dragons to abandon their form? Could Kivrin be a descendat of Chiwen or Yazi? Then where are the descendants of the other dragons? Could some of these nine sons be still alive? Would he be the one to tell the truth of her? Where are their dragon bodies hidden? Is Sephora after them? Why? Turn them to her slaves? Does she want to transform into a dragon? So many possibilities!

If You are stuck for ideas- go read the Character Bios. There are a lot of possibilities there. (Ex: in addition to P'u's idea- If you read the Character Bio- You would know Sephora doesn't like thing that involve love- and guess who turns into "cupid" after munching a chocolate chip cookie? In other words, Sephora probably doesn't like Jian Jian all that much- and though Jian Jian could probably hurt her- he would have a hard time getting near her)

Specifically for India:
"Tag! You are it! I tried to leave you plenty of space for introducing the rest of the characters. (example: The new teacher. . .or maybe Damien needs a guide too. . .)"

Akisame appears rather irritated, doesn't she? Maybe she's been having a bad day...could it be that time of the month? I don't really know ^_^;

Sephora has obviously duped Torri into fighting Korrin. Possibly she manipulated him through his sense of justice to fight the "evil" Korrin.

What is this mysterious contract between Torri and Sephora? Is he trying to find his family? Maybe Sephora promised that if she has Korrin's immortal powers at hand she could bring Torri's mother back to life...

Korrin and Torri are about to fight but Torri is armed whereas Korrin is not. Wait a second, doesn't Kivrin have a sword? Hmmm...

Why does looking at Korrin remind me of Kenshin?

Nobody is on a contract to finish this! Just have fun with it! And to those people who have been bugging me to finish this long after I already announced that I had: read the Baka Neko message board *first* next time!

~Comments~
I apologize in advance for this- I've had to work at a movie theatre and attempt a semiprofessional illustration job, so this is all i could come up with.

Yes, I know it does suck. A lot.
It's not quite finished, I should be posting a cleaned up version soon.
If you can't read it (again, sorry) here's what happens...
Korrin- Hmph. Well, I normally don't beat up strangers... but in your case I think I'll make an exception. I accept.
Kivrin- Are you insane? You don't even have a weapon! Let me help you! Use my sword!
Korrin- No thanks, I'll be fine.
Torri- Hey! You can't fight without a weapon! It wouldn't be a fair match! Korrin- Don't worry... I won't need one this time...

Anyhoo, now howsabout some suggestions for future artists-
#1. DON'T PROCRASTINATE! look at what happened to me :-(
#2. Don't try to follow the style of the person ahead of you. Be creative and have fun with it!
#3. Use the advantages of computer coloring. You can create all sorts of nifty effects in photoshop or paintshop, just read some tutorials. But... #4. Remember that people have to download this stuff. Sure, i know Photoshop filters are nifty and keen, but they increase the size of the file a lot! Just try to keep image size down while retaining quality.
#5- has anyone else noticed that we have a lot of characters with K's in their names?

Now, about the story-
My page is just leading up to the fight. Important stuff for the next artist-
1. Korrin is unarmed. Remember that.
2. Kivrin is armed AND is secretly a dragon. Keep in mind that an URGENT SITUATION may cause her to display her powers.
3. The rest of the cast (remember them?) are somewhere in this general area. It would be good if they stumbled upon the fight. Ya know, just for giggles and kicks...
4. The Mystical Symbol in lkthe background of the last panel is supposed to be something from Korrin's immortal society thingy- it's bascially a yin-yang with three circles inside it instead of two.
anyway, that about does it for me.
Good luck to all impromanga artists!
